School Counselor Accused of Failing to Report Abuse
An Agua Fria High School guidance counselor accused of failing to report child abuse twice is on administrative leave and could face criminal charges. Avondale police plan to recommend one felony count of failure to report abuse and one misdemeanor count of child abuse against Deborah Ray, 56, of Goodyear, a district employee since 2001. The Agua Fria Union High School District also is investigating the case. According to police: A 16-year-old girl allegedly reported in March that an unidentified person had attempted to molest her.
