Bee Reporter Faces Pornography Charge

WOODLAND -- Yolo County prosecutors have charged a Sacramento Bee employee with possession of child pornography. The District Attorney's Office filed a criminal complaint Tuesday against longtime business reporter Gilbert Chan, 52, of Davis. The complaint alleges a single felony count of possessing obscene matter depicting sexual conduct of a person under 18. The charge stems from a Feb. 3 incident at the UC Davis Activities and Recreation Center, according to campus police. A witness observed Chan videotaping a youth cheerleading competition with a camera he was trying to conceal and alerted an officer at the event, said UC Davis Police Lt. Nader Oweis.
