Teacher Christel Gravlin Gets 120 Days In Jail, 10 Years' Probation
CANTON, N.Y. -- A former high school English teacher will spend the next 10 years on probation for having sex with a 15-year-old student. Christel Gravlin will also have her state teaching license revoked and will be placed on the state's sex offender registry. The 33-year-old Lisbon Central School teacher admitted in March that she had oral sex and intercourse with the boy on Nov. 25 during a brief affair. A former Lisbon Central School teacher will spend about 4 months in jail after admitting she had sex with a 15 year old male student. In St. Lawrence County Court, Christel Gravlin was also sentenced to 10 years probation and $1,300 in court surcharges. Following her sentencing, Gravlin was remanded to custody of the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility. June 23rd has been set for her sex offender risk assessment hearing. That will determine whether Gravlin gets listed as a level 1, 2 or 3 sex offender.
