Teacher Coen Potts Gets 7 Years for Pornography

Hands clasped in his lap, former Auburn-Washburn Unified School District 437 elementary art teacher Coen Potts on Monday quietly accepted a seven-year prison sentence for possessing thousands of images of child pornography. Nearly two years after investigators found more than 4,000 child pornography images as well as videos stashed in his Topeka apartment, U.S. District Court Judge Julie Robinson weighed factors that could lengthen or shorten a sentence. Among the images and videos he mostly collected through the Internet, were ones in which children were clearly in pain, said Assistant U.S. Attorney Christine Kenney.
