Mennonite Missionary Enters Alford Plea In Sex Case

HARRISONBURG -- A former Mennonite missionary accused of secretly videotaping teenage relatives having sex with international students at Eastern Mennonite University pleaded guilty Tuesday. Andrew Max Eggman Jr., 46, formerly of 2927 Mount Clinton Pike, Harrisonburg, entered Alford pleas in Rockingham County Circuit Court to felony indecent liberties with a child in a supervisory position and felony production of child pornography. In an Alford plea, a defendant doesn't admit guilt but concedes there is sufficient evidence in the case for a conviction. In a plea agreement, Judge James Lane sentenced Eggman to 10 years in prison with all but two months suspended, equivalent to time served. Eggman also will have to register as a sex offender.
