Married Doctor Convicted of Trying to Poison Lover In Attempt to Induce Abortion
(Exod.20:14; Lev.20:10; Prov.6:32; Matt.5:27-28; Gal.5:19-21)ADULTERY & ATTEMPTED MURDER -- A doctor has been found guilty of trying to poison his lover in an attempt to induce an abortion. Dr Edward Erin, 44, of west London, spiked the drinks of Bella Prowse, 33, after she became pregnant but refused a termination, the Old Bailey heard. The married father-of-two, who worked at St Mary's Hospital in west London, had denied administering poison to procure a miscarriage. Miss Prowse gave birth to a healthy baby in September last year. The jury found Erin guilty of two charges of attempting to administer poison, once in a cup of coffee from Starbucks and then in a glass of orange juice. Miss Prowse suspected the drinks had been spiked and took them to police.

The wife of a hospital consultant mounted an astonishing defence of her husband last night after he was convicted of spiking his mistress's drinks to abort the child she was expecting. Serial philanderer Edward Erin, 44, faces a lengthy prison sentence after lacing his secretary Bella Prowse's Starbucks coffee and orange juice with miscarriage-inducing drugs. His wife Lowri, 41, who was picking up their two children from school, was not at the Old Bailey to hear the verdict or see her womanising husband remanded in custody until sentencing next month.
