Female Coach Convicted of Homosex With Teen Girl She Taught, Mentored
She was a trusted coach, friend, teacher and mentor who appeared eager to take a troubled student under her wing. On Friday, Melissa Koehn also became a felon. A Dakota County jury deliberated 3 1/2 hours Friday before convicting the former history teacher and basketball coach from St. Croix Lutheran High School in West St. Paul of three counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct with a 17-year-old student. Koehn, 31, of Kenosha, Wis., will be sentenced Feb. 5 before Dakota County District Judge Robert King in Hastings. GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. -- A jury convicted a woman accused of having sexual contact with the 17-year-old female student she was mentoring. A Dakota County jury found Melissa Koehn, 31, guilty Friday of three counts of criminal sexual conduct after deliberating for 3 1/2 hours. Koehn was a teacher and basketball coach at St. Croix Lutheran High School. She started a mentoring relationship with the student.

A former high school teacher and coach took the stand in Hastings Friday, recanting earlier statements to police in which she had admitted sexually touching a student athlete. A Dakota County jury was not persuaded by her story. Melissa D. Koehn, 31, of Kenosha, Wis., was convicted of three felony counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct.
Minnesota Court Convicts Lesbian of Sexual Assault
Sentencing is set for February 2010 for a Kenosha woman convicted of having sexual contact with a Minnesota student. Jurors deliberated about 3½ hours Friday before concluding that Melissa D. Koehn, 31, was guilty of three counts of fourth-degree sexual assault. She faces up to 30 years in prison when she is sentenced Feb. 5.
