Ugandan Defends Anti-Homosexuality Legislation

Debate rages in Uganda about a controversial bill before parliament that would make homosexuality punishable by death. A Ugandan member of parliament (MP) last month proposed that lawmakers should create a new crime of "aggravated homosexuality", which would be punishable by death. Ndorwa West MP David Bahati, of the ruling party, tabled the private member's bill in parliament. According to his bill, those convicted of having gay sex with disabled people and those under the 18 would face the death penalty.

Even landlords could be imprisoned for renting to homosexuals. Civil officials have a God ordained duty to execute sodomites. The word of God commands, "If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them" (Lev.20:13). The Magistrate, in his proper role, "beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to [execute] wrath upon him that doeth evil" (Rom.13:4).
