Adultery: Pastor John Erbele Pleads Guilty to Soliciting Prostitution

The former pastor of a church in Prior Lake pleaded guilty Wednesday in Ramsey County District Court to soliciting a prostituted woman. The Rev. John K. Erbele, 35, was one of 16 men caught in a "john sting" on Sept. 1 after responding to an Internet ad placed by the St. Paul police. Erbele won't have to serve any jail time for the misdemeanor offense. District Judge Gail Chang Bohr sentenced him to serve probation, get counseling, do community service and attend "john school."

ST. PAUL - Former Prior Lake pastor John Kameron Erbele pleaded guilty Wednesday in Ramsey County District Court on charges of soliciting a prostitute. The 36-year-old pastor of LifePrint Church, which meets at Twin Oaks Middle School, will serve probation in lieu of jail time for the misdemeanor offense under the plea agreement reached. Erbele was one of 16 men arrested during a prostitution sting operation conducted by St. Paul police on Sept. 1. The agreement was reached a month after Erbele entered a not guilty plea on Jan. 4. . . . “Mr. Erbele has accepted full responsibility for his conduct from the beginning,” said Paul Baertschi, Erbele’s attorney. “He is addressing the issues systematically and at this point, for the sake of his wife and three children, he wants his privacy to be respected from this point forward.”

A former Prior Lake minister charged with soliciting a prostitute pleaded guilty in Ramsey County District Court. John Kameron Erbele, 36, will serve no jail time in the misdemeanor conviction. Judge Gail Chang Bohr sentenced him to probation, counseling, 24 hours of community service and "john school," an educational program for men who solicit prostitutes. If he remains law-abiding for a year, the conviction will be dismissed.

The 36-year-old former pastor of LifePrint Church, which meets at Twin Oaks Middle School, was arrested on St. Paul’s east side on Sept. 1 for allegedly answering an online prostitution ad. Erbele was one of 16 men arrested in a prostitution sting conducted by St. Paul police. Erbele is set to appear for a pre-trial hearing at the St. Paul courthouse on Monday, Feb. 1 at 9 a.m. If convicted, he faces a maximum of 90 days in jail and a $1,000 fine.

The shades were drawn tight and a red cloth hung over the door of LifePrint Church’s offices in Burnsville on Thursday morning, following the arrest of the church’s pastor, the Rev. John Kameron Erbele, for prostitution-related activities in St. Paul this week. Erbele, 35, of Prior Lake, allegedly answered an online prostitution ad and was among 16 men arrested in a sting conducted by the St. Paul Police Department on Tuesday, according to police Sgt. Paul Schnell.
