Serial Sex Offender Gets 30 Years in Tourism Case

WILMINGTON, Del. -- A 66-year-old habitual sex offender has been sentenced to 30 years behind bars for traveling to Germany to molest a teenage orphan. Thomas S. Pendleton received the maximum sentence Wednesday in federal court in Delaware. A jury in Wilmington convicted him in September after a three-day trial. He was also sentenced Wednesday to a concurrent term of 10 years in prison for failing to register as a sex offender. Prosecutors say Pendleton traveled from Philadelphia to Germany in November 2005 and befriended a 14-year-old boy who was living in an orphanage.
