Dallas County DA Craig Watkins' Role In Sex Abuse Case Under Fire

Dallas County District Attorney Craig Watkins is under fire for his role in helping a 10-year-old girl declare that she did not want to pursue charges against the stepfather who molested her. The first-term Democrat testified in a Collin County courtroom last week about actions he took in 2006 while working as a criminal defense attorney. Watkins was subpoenaed by both the defense and prosecutors in the case of his former client, Richard Howell. On Friday, jurors took less than one hour to convict Howell. He was sentenced to eight years in prison for sexually abusing his stepdaughter by rubbing her through her clothes.
